Application Field

Working Principle

The basic operation of the L6386D013TR involves inverting the charge and restoring the voltage levels in the circuit. When a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal is applied, the charge gets inverted and the driver is instantly turned on or off. The two input pins, Enable and Fault sense the PWM. The Enable pin turns on the driver and the Fault pin turns it off. The conventional way of designing is to include a resistor and a capacitor at the input in order to improve the performance.

In order to provide accurate voltage control, a clock oscillator circuit is used. This clock sets the frequency at which the dead time, PWM frequency and now the charge pump current regulator output voltage can be set. By adjusting the frequency of the oscillator, the clock can generate accurate pulses of consistent duration. These pulses are applied to the output transistor and the load is regulated. Once the transistor is turned on and the load is regulated, the charge pump is used to invert the driver current. The efficient control of the output voltage can be achieved by selecting the appropriate value for the resistor and the capacitor.
