The LM5109BMAX is a PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) specifically designed for gate driver applications. It provides a monolithic single channel gate driver with protection, diagnostics and gate drive control. This solution offers features such as fast gate turn-on, ProtectMode, and multiple device synchronization. The device is ideal for high shelf, low shelf, and battery environmental protection.
The LM5109BMAX gate driver works by monitoring the logic levels at its inputs and controlling the operation of the connected MOSFETs. The MOSFET operation is controlled by either one of three dedicated control ports and by the embedded logic. The control ports allow the user to program the gate voltage, current and timeout of the MOSFET operation. The device also features built-in features like overtemperature protection, over-current protection, and output short-circuit protection.
