The LM5115AMT is a high voltage, wide VIN anti-cross conduction monolithic gate driver with dual outputs for driving N‑channel MOSFETs. It is designed for voltage-mode boost, SEPIC, and other topologies. The inherently low dropout characteristics and adaptive body diode grading of the integrated full H-bridge MOSFET driver reduces conduction and switching losses. This driver features a superior cross conduction performance, which is enabled by an independently adjustable dead time. Internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and under voltage lockout allow for implementation of a robust power supply design. The LM5115AMT also features input protection from connection of the low side driver to ground and controlled turn on transitions.

Application field

The LM5115AMT can be used in wide range of applications, including AC/HV solar inverters, hard switched inverters, high voltage SMPS and welding machines. In solar inverters, the LM5115AMT provides a wide operating temperature range (–40°C to 125°C), while providing separate low and high side gate drive outputs with adjustable dead time.

Working principle

The LM5115AMT uses a voltage-mode control architecture comprising a loop gain of 0.08V/A, which includes over-ranging and enhance abilities. This allows an optimized power MOSFET to be driven proportional to the output voltage at the switch node for greater efficiency and reduced component stresses. Another benefit of the LM5115AMT is its low DC dropout characteristic, which helps prevent troublesome start-up glitches and short-term AC mains dips from stalling the converter.

The LM5115AMT is designed for a wide VIN range (4.5V to 38V). The integrated full H-bridge driver gives maximum efficiency with adjustable dead time from 50ns to 500ns. The integrated protection features of the LM5115AMT provide a robust power design solution with features such as input protection and thermal shutdown. The device also contains dedicated shorts and current limiting circuitry to protect both the high side and low side drivers.
