Common Mode Chokes (CMC) are used to attenuate differential and common-mode noise from entering or exiting a system. Common-mode noise is the unwanted signal that is present both in phase and out of phase between two conductors. This type of noise can cause interference when the conductors are connected to an electronic device or circuit, causing interference or even damaging the device or circuit. The RN114-1.2-02 is a common mode choke used to limit the amount of noise that enters or exits an electronic device or circuitry through two connected conductors.

The fully isolated RN114-1.2-02 has an application field of DC voltage from 50v to 500v, and an operating temperature range from -40 to +145 °C. A typical application is for suppressing common-mode and coaxial noises on communication systems, power supplies and control devices.

The RN114-1.2-02 works by using magnetic flux to create a reverse current for any common-mode current entering or exiting through two conductors, thus attenuating the unwanted noise. This is achieved by using cores made from specific materials, such as ferrite, that have high permeability and can create the necessary magnetic flux.

When electricity flows through two conductors, the current creates a magnetic flux. The purpose of the RN114-1.2-02 is to create a reverse current in the two conductors, in order to cancel out any unwanted noise. This is done by passing an alternating magnetic current (AC) through the core of the relay to create a magnetic flux, which then generates a reverse current in order to attenuate the unwanted noise.
