UC2707NG4 is a Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) – Gate Driver which is mainly used as a synchronous buck converter in managing and controlling high-power devices. It provides high-efficiency, high accuracy and fast controlled power switching in a single package. The features that makes UC2707NG4 more superior and better than the rest products are its noise reduction, low standby power, current limit, programmable soft-start, output voltage regulation and short circuit protection. Apart from that, UC2707NG4 also provides improved power efficiency, inductor current sensing, and low-power operation.
The UC2707NG4 is designed with a number of blocks for power management and control, such as: The Gate Driver, MOSFET Driver, Voltage Regulation and Power Management Blocks.
The Gate Driver block consists of an internal bootstrap diode and two N-channel MOSFETs to provide reach-through drive capability. The Gate Driver allows for superior power efficiency, as the reach-thru helps reduce the external component count and, consequently the power wasted in operations on the common drain line. Moreover, the Gate Driver is protected by a self-limiting output current, thereby avoiding shorting conditions when powering up the external components.
The MOSFET Driver block provides fast switching times by driving both N-channel MOSFETs at higher speeds, while providing excellent thermal management. The MOSFET Driver is protected against transient over-voltages and over-current conditions, further increasing the reliability.
The Voltage Regulation and Power Management block provides adjustable soft-stop, low-side current-limit, output voltage control, and an adjustable power-on/off delay. The power down/up mode feature can be used to reduce power consumption during light-load operation (sleep mode). An Advanced Thermal Protection mechanism protects the device from excessive heat. This helps prevents damage to the device and ensure it lasts longer.
