2N5088TA is a silicon planar epitaxial NPN bipolar transistor mainly suitable for general-purpose switching and amplifier applications. It is a very popular discrete device due to its LOW power dissipation, LOW saturation voltage, and LOW noise figure.

The 2N5088TA utilizes a single NPN configuration. It is mainly used as an amplifier where it converts the input signal into an output voltage signal. It can provide gain to the applied signal and can be used to amplify both audio and low frequencies. When a base bias voltage is provided to the transistor, its collector-emitter junction is allowed to pass current. When base voltage is removed, the collector-emitter junction is blocked again.
