2SA1568 is a small signal PNP transistor. It is a general purpose silicon PNP transistor manufactured using silicon epitaxial planar technology to achieve the high current gain and high breakdown voltage. Comparing with the NPN counterpart, PNP transistors have higher breakdown voltage, better current handling and significant lower power dissipation with the same current gain.
The 2SA1568 transistor is widely used for numerous applications such as Audio amplifiers, general purpose amplifiers, timer circuits, energizer circuits, continuous amplifier circuits and switching circuits.
The following is the working principle of a bipolar NPN transistor, which applies as well to the PNP transistor.
In a bipolar transistor, one end is the emitter, the other is the collector and in the middle is the base. It works when electrons enter the base region, they are then attracted to the collector having passed through the emitter region. Voltage and current flows the same way a normal diode would but the emitter region is much more loosely doped than the normal PN junction to allow more current to flow via it than a diode can offer. This can cause high current gain in devices such as 2SA1568.
2SA1568 transistors have an amplification factor (hfe) of approximately 35-55, which means that A small base current can be boosted to produce a much higher collector current. This makes them ideal for transferring current from low powered sources such as logic gates to outputs and motors.
2SA1568 also have a low saturation voltage of approximately 2-3v, allowing for efficient operation when switching with the base. Low saturation voltage also reduces the voltage droop which can occur when the transistor is being driven heavily in saturation.
2SA1568 also has two other major advantages over other transistors: a high gain band width and low noise. The high gain bandwidth allows the transistor to switch quickly between different states, while the low noise ensures that the output signal is not distorted by unwanted noise.
