ALD110900APAL Application Field and Working Principle
ALD110900APAL is a product of re_configurabte digital logic circuit that makes use of applied logic in a more efficient manner. It is specially designed for applications like automotive, industrial, communication, lighting and aerospace. The ALD110900APAL is made up of FET (field effect transistors) array based digital logic and makes use of LSI (large scale integration) circuit technology.
A FET is a three terminal device controlling the flow of current through the device using an electric field and has a wide range of applications in the field of computer, communication and instrumentation. FETs come in two main types, depletion type and enhancement type FETs. The ALD110900APAL is a depletion type FET array that operates using the electric field principle.
When the electric field is present, the gate voltage applied to the FET family creates a voltage gradient across the channel which creates a potential barrier at the channel end and thereby restricting the current flow. The electric field produced by the gate voltage can be easily varied by adjusting the applied voltage.
The FET array in the ALD110900APAL consists of four different digital logic functions, each having a unique gate voltage configuration. These functions are: AND, OR, NAND and NOR gates. These four gates are used to form a wide variety of logic circuits including multiplexers, analog to digital converters, counters, flip-flops, shift-registers and programmable logic arrays.
The ALD110900APAL also consists of a high frequency clock module to support more than 200MHz operation. The clock module increases the speed of the system without increasing power consumption. The ALD110900APAL has been designed to run on low voltage supplies up to 6V and make use of self-adjusting power management techniques which enable the device to adjust its own settings in order to reduce power consumption.
Apart from this, the ALD110900APAL also features advanced features like clock gating and power switching which can be used to minimize power consumption even further. The ALD110900APAL also contains integrated protection circuitry which can be used to protect against over-voltages, under-voltages and over-temperature events.
