M29F400BB90M1 is a 4M-bit Serial Flash Memory, featuring the standard Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). It is operated from a single power supply VCC from 2.7-3.6V providing a low power CMOS technology. With a read current of 10mA, a write current of 20mA and a standby current of 0.1μA it provides an ideal solution for applications requiring low standby current.
Application Field
M29F400BB90M1 is suitable for a wide range of consumer and industrial applications. These include routers, home appliances, solid state drives, printers and telecommunication systems. Additionally, the serial interface capability enables applications such as boot loading, program code and parameter storage, data logging, remote configuration and system debug/diagnostic interfaces.

Working Principle
M29F400BB90M1 works by storing data in an array of memory cells and is organized using addresses. Each byte of data is arranged in an 8-bit form, and is accessible using commands that are sent through the serial interface (SPI). The M29F400BB90M1 also offers a variety of protection features such as, write protect, block protect, power down, and read protect.
The device can be segmented into four distinct 1-Mb memory blocks, providing flexibility in the data storage architecture. Furthermore, it is capable of erase and write operations in the range of 4K bytes, 32K bytes, 64K bytes, and full chip.
For writing, programming and erasing the device, commands are sent to each sector of the array as required, and then performed as requested. Data can be read from the array through the serial interface and stored in an external buffer. Using this method, M29F400BB90M1 can transfer data to and from serial peripherals with the highest efficiency.
