Working Principle

The SI4688-A10-GMR Receiver is based on an innovative architecture developed to meet the challenging requirements for signal detection in the toughest of environments. It consists of an RF front-end, a low noise amplifier (LNA), signal processing, and a digital interface.

The RF front-end is designed to detect and amplify weak radio frequency signals in the 0.1–3.2 GHz range. It is composed of two downconversion mixers, a LNA, and a variable gain amplifier (VGA). The downconversion mixers convert the RF signal to a lower frequency so that it can be further processed by the LNA. The LNA then amplifies the signal, which is then sent to the signal processor.

The signal processor section of the receiver performs a variety of frequency and time domain functions on the incoming signal to enable an accurate detection. In order to achieve the desired performance, this section is composed of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a configurable narrow-band filter, and a demodulator.

The ADC converts the analog signal into a digital signal that can be processed by the filter and demodulator blocks. Finally, the digital interface is used to deliver the data to the external system.
