The TIP107G is a complementary component of the power bipolar junction transistor (BJT), usually known as a n-p-n transistor. It is widely used in power supplies, audio amplifiers, and switching applications.The BJT transistors are widely used in small-signal applications because of their low cost and high current gain.BJT transistors are manufactured in two forms; PNP and NPN. In the TIP107G, the NPN type is used.In operation, the TIP107G is biased in such a way that two depletion regions are formed between the emitter base and collector base junctions.The emitter-base and collector-base junction potentials control the current gain of the BJT. These potentials are controlled by the amount of forward bias applied to the base and the amount of reverse bias applied to the emitter-base junction.When the base current is low, the amount of current that flows from the emitter-base junction to the collector is limited, causing the collector current to be low. When the base current is increased, the amount of current that flows from the emitter-base junction to the collector increases, causing the collector current to be increased. This increase in the collector current is called gain.The TIP107G is designed for use in switching applications, where high gain and high switching speeds are required. It has a maximum power dissipation of 125 watts and a maximum collector-emitter voltage of 100 volts.The TIP107G is also used in power supplies. In power supplies, the TIP107G can be used to boost the output by supplying additional current to the load. When used in this manner, the output current of the power supply is increased while the output voltage is maintained constant.The TIP107G is also used in audio amplifiers. Its high collector current gain allows it to generate large current signals at relatively low input levels.
