The TIP142T is a bipolar type Transistor (BJT). This type of transistor is a single transistor unit which is used in many applications ranging from the most basic to the most complex. The transistor is comprised of two active terminals (emitter and collector) and three static terminals (base, gate, and source). In a basic configuration, the base of the transistor serves as a control voltage input and the collector acts as the output voltage. The TIP142T is a PNP transistor with a current gain (maximum collector current divided by base current) of 20-100, depending on the operating conditions.
