The TIP142TTU uses a simple working principle which is based on the flow of electrons from collector to emitter through the base. When the base is given a positive voltage, the emitter-base junction is forward-biased and electrons flow from the emitter to the base. The repulsion between electrons and holes at the base causes a current to flow from the collector to the emitter, forming a “transistor action”. The flow of electrons is controlled by the base voltage. The higher the base voltage, the higher the current flow from collector to emitter.
