TNY279GN

TNY279GN is a two-terminal adjustable off-line switched 0.6A/1W Buck high frequency (switching) regulator. It is a peak-current-mode (SAM), Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) filterless PWM Controller. It provides an adjustable output voltage (6.0V-40V) with the ability to withstand up to 60V of input surge voltage.

It is a low-power, high-efficiency control IC for offline power solutions. The TNY279 integrates all necessary components for low-power designs, including a power MOSFET, over-voltage protection, voltage feedback, input current sensing, bootstrap capacitor and a soft-start capacitor. It provides very low start-up current, ultra-fast transient response and good EMI performance, making it the ideal IC for use in small, low-noise, cost-effective offline solutions.

TNY279GN works based on the peak-current-mode (SAM) control concept. SAM utilizes the current sense signal to keeps the current trough an inductor nearly constant over a wide range of output voltages. SAM also eliminates the need for an EMI filter by utilizing a combination of fast turn-on and slow turn-off MOSFETs, thus providing lossless noise filtering. The TNY279GN is designed to deliver efficiency up to 95%.

The TNY279GN features a simple design and low component count, allowing for a cost-effective, space-saving design. It includes built-in burst mode operation, providing high efficiency operation over the entire load range from no-load to full-load conditions. Although it does not require an external EMI filter, an EMI filter may be added for additional EMI filtering.
