TNY254PN is a low-cost offline flyback switching regulator circuit that is suitable for various low-power AC/DC applications. It is based on a small, low profile flexible package and a transformer winding, which can be integrated into a highly efficient single-box solution. The unit is suitable for use on ac mains and Small Smart Grid (SSG) feed, as well as direct connection to mains.This switching regulator circuit is specifically designed to provide low noise, high efficiency, and low thermal resistance, while demonstrating excellent power density. It is suitable for applications up to 24 W and 36 W. The TNY254PN provides a multitude of protection features, including programmable over-voltage, current limit and thermal protection with auto-restart. It also has a forward and reverse current mode control with remote sense. In addition to providing a scalable package for both DC/AC applications, it features effective monitoring and diagnostics capability. It also offers both external and internal temperature sensing with over-temperature shutdown. The working principle of the TNY254PN is mainly based on the concept of energy conversion. The IC then turns off the switch when a predetermined tolerance is met, resulting in energy stored in a transformer.
