The TSM1052 battery charger uses a proprietary charging method to provide a controlled charge to the battery. The charging process is controlled by three pins: VCC, PRE, and SYS.When the PRE pin is pulled low and the device is powered on, the charger enters the pre-charge stage. During this phase, the charger begins charging the battery with a lower current (approximately 500 mA) in order to protect the battery from damage due to overcharging. Once the battery reaches a certain charge level, the charger switches to the constant-voltage stage, where it charges the battery with a constant voltage and a programmed current.To protect the battery from overvoltage, the TSM1052 monitors the voltage during the constant-voltage phase. If the voltage exceeds the selected voltage (programmed via the SYS pin), the charging process is stopped.The charger monitors the battery\'s temperature during charging and reduces the current if it exceeds a pre-programmed value. This prevents the battery’s temperature from increasing too much during charging, ensuring that the battery is charged safely.The TSM1052 also provides over-discharge protection, which prevents the battery from discharging too much. Once the battery voltage falls below the low-voltage threshold, the charge circuit is disabled automatically, protecting the battery from over-discharge.Conclusion
