UP04979G0L application field and working principle

The UP04979G0L is used in a variety of analog signal switching applications such as switching between the outputs of two successive stages in the signal path and multiplexing multiplexed signals on a single wire. It is suitable for a variety of operating temperatures, ranging from -55°C to +125°C. In its simplest form, the UP04979G0L is composed of two single FETs connected in parallel and placed across the channel. Both single FETs are connected to a pair of control signals - INLO and INHI - and a pair of power signals - VDD_LOG and VDD_HI. When the control signals are both low, the single FETs are turned off and the switching is in the off-state. When either control signal is high, the channel is closed, allowing for current to pass through.
Additionally, the UP04979G0L employs a number of protection features to prevent damage caused by ESD and over-temperature. These include a built-in ESD protect diode to guard against static discharge and an over-temperature shut-off circuit to shut down the switch and prevent it from reaching excessive operating temperatures.
