Working Principle of AO3421
The AO3421 is designed to be robust and reliable, featuring a drain-source breakdown voltage of 135 V, gate-source breakdown voltage of 20 V, and drain current of 251 A. It has low input capacitance, low gate charge, and high bias current making it an ideal solution for high-speed applications. The maximum operating temperature for the AO3421 is 125°C, thus making it suitable for high-temperature applications.
The AO3421 utilizes a three-terminal configuration where the source is the main body and the gate and drain are the two controls. This three-terminal configuration enables the AO3421 to perform two types of switching functions. First, the positive gate voltage can be used to turn the MOSFET “ON”, allowing the current to flow from source to drain. Second, the negative gate voltage applied to the MOSFET can be used to turn it “OFF”, preventing the current from flowing from source to drain.
