The EGP10AHE3/73 is a single rectifier diode often used in rectifying power and current from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). When positive voltage is applied between the anode and cathode, the diode conducts current in the forward direction, which is known as a forward-biased condition. When reverse bias is applied, the current flow is blocked, and the diode behaves as an open-circuit.In a rectifier circuit, the diodes are connected between the AC input and the DC output, allowing current to flow in only one direction. During the positive half-cycle of the AC waveform, the anode of the diode is positive while the cathode is negative. This causes current to flow from the anode to the cathode and the diode is in forward bias, resulting in the output being in polarity with the input. During the negative half-cycle, both anode and cathode become negative and the diode is reversed biased and does not conduct, thus blocking current. As a result, the output has a DC voltage value which is close to the peak value of the input AC voltage.Unlike a normal diode, the EGP10AHE3/73 is capable of high current conduction. It has high reverse voltage blocking capability and low forward voltage drop. The forward voltage drop of the diode can be as low as 0.7V, while the maximum reverse voltage blocking capability is 1000V. This device is capable of handling large current ratings ranging up to 10A with its transistorized construction. Moreover, it is designed with low-inductance terminals which enable the diode to escape high dV/dt transients and magnetic fields.The EGP10AHE3/73 rectifier diode is able to rectify power from either an AC or DC source.
