PBSS302PDH Application Field and Working Principle

PBSS302PDH, developed by Turck, is a single bipolar junction transistor (BJT) type silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) that can be used in a range of applications. It is a low-voltage and low-power SCR, so it can be used for variety of power supply, communications and signal transmission applications at or below 30V and 0.2A.

Application Fields:

Working Principle:

The PBSS302PDH SCR is a 3-terminal device consisting of a control (gate) terminal, an anode (or main terminal) and a cathode/emitter terminal. When the gate terminal is left open, a reverse-bias is applied between the anode and cathode. This maintains the SCR in a reverse-biased state. When a positive voltage is applied to the gate terminal, the SCR is turned "on," allowing the anode and the cathode to conduct current. In this state, the SCR acts as a low-voltage switch, allowing current to flow through the device. Once the SCR is turned on, its gate terminal is no longer required for the passage of current and it can remain open. The SCR will remain "on" until the anode-cathode current falls below a certain minimum level. It is then free to turn "off".
