The S29GL064N90TFI010 is a 64 megabyte, non-volatile, CMOS, multiple bank Flash Memory device. Mainly used for memory expansion, code storage and execution, data-handling in embedded systems. It has the features of very fast erase and program times, low power consumption, low voltage read and write capability, enhanced reliability, low voltage operation and a full featured command set.
The S29GL064N90TFI010 offers four different banks or shadow registers which can be programmed individually, making it suitable for applications requiring different memory banks to store a variety of data. For example, two banks might be used to store program code while the other two would be used to store data. This multi-bank capability gives it high flexibility and can make it an ideal solution for memory expansion, code storage and execution, data handling in embedded systems.
The working principle of S29GL064N90TFI010 is as follows. Through three different input signals, namely, program enable (PE), program clock (PC) and program data (PD), the specified memory location is addressed and program data is extracted from the device. The device then utilizes a built-in 13 bit counter which increments after every program clock to increment from the address specified in the program clock. In the “read” mode, the specified address location of the data that needs to be read from the device is addressed, and the data is extracted from the device.
The power management capabilities of the S29GL064N90TFI010 make it highly attractive to low power and portable applications. The device powers up in less than 1 second and can be set up in a very low-power sleep mode. It supports three active states: active operating, standby, and sleep modes. The active operating mode provides the highest speed programming, whereas the standby and sleep modes significantly reduce total power consumption during system idle periods.
The S29GL064N90TFI010 includes built-in eFuse technology, allowing OEMs to create unique memory programming solutions, like “locked loads”. Locked loads are unique code images loaded into the device, which are stored in a non-volatile manner once programmed. This technology can also be used for authentication handling in certain applications, as well as having custom load distributions for different applications.
