The TPC8405 series are a family of Field Effect Transistor (FET) Arrays with both N-Channel and P-Configurations available in a range of packages from 8-pin SOIC to 16-pin TSSOP. The TPC8405 series, such as TE12L, TE12Q, and TE12M, have been designed to provide a wide range of power and current capabilities while limiting noise interference and providing adequate protection from heat and voltage surges. They are a cost-effective, reliable and highly efficient device that effectively address power conversion requirements in industrial, consumer and automotive markets.

The TPC8405 series provides a variety of application fields where robust and reliable power conversion solutions are needed. These include telecom, automotive, industrial, consumer, and lighting industries. In specific, they offer a wide range of performance and flexibility when used in automotive power electronics, such as electric vehicle (EV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and battery-powered applications. With their low on-resistance and high current capability, TPC8405 series are ideally suited for electric starter motor and alternator switches, electric-footbrake, power-steering system, load switches, and many other power-conversion applications.

In terms of physical structure, the TPC8405 series are standard monolithic integrated circuits (IC) with four FETs connected in a parallel array. The array provides an economical way to do a common source voltage-level shifter or to build a simple, small, and cost-effective bridge rectifier configuration. It also provides a low on-resistance without wasting much power due to low input capacitance and fast turn-on with its low gate charge. Moreover, the devices come with a thermo-resettable Over Temperature Protection (OTP), allowing it to replace standard mechanical over-current protection components for safety and cost effectiveness.

In terms of operation principle, the TPC8405 series utilise the FETs, specifically N & P-Channel MOSFETs, to provide a power switch between two devices in order to transfer energy and control the current. The current flux is determined by the gate voltage and it can be adjusted between two ranges, scaled down to 0V and up to Vdd, by increasing the gate voltage. As current flows, the device\'s drain voltage changes accordingly and power is consumed by the load. Lastly, the device provides current amplification and temperature protection, thus minimizing the energy consumption.
