AO4813L is a high voltage N-Channel MOSFET array for power management applications. It provides a high-frequency alternative for controllable switches in medium to high-current applications like automotive power management, industrial power distribution and security systems. The device is built with P-channel and N-channel MOSFETs which are typically used alongside an MCU or microcontroller.
The AO4813L is a useful device for controlling large loads of up to 5A with very low on-state resistance of less than 0.3-0.6 Ω. It is normally used as a single-pole single-throw (SPST) switch for controlling high currents or in a half-bridge configuration for controlling bidirectional high currents. The device is also suitable for applications involving solar or fuel cells, medical equipment, and power amplifier circuits.
The AO4813L is constructed from two sets of transistors: the N-channel arrays and the P-channel arrays. The N-channel consists of eight N-channel devices with gate control, each of which allows for a maximum current of up to 2A. The P-channel, on the other hand, consists of four P-channel devices with gate control, each of which allows for a maximum current of up to 1A.
The AO4813L’s working principle is simple yet beneficial. The lower level of the N-channel array and the upper level of the P-channel array are connected together. A high voltage source connects to the gates of the N&P-channel devices. A low voltage source connects to the drains of the N&P-channel devices and to the load, as well. When the gates are connected to the high voltage source, the device switches on and the current from the low voltage source flows from the drains to the loads. This allows for a fast switching time, low power losses and high efficiency.
