Working Principle of AOD472

The AOD472 is an N-Channel enhancement-mode MOSFET. It has an on-state resistance of less than 10 Ω and operates with a supply voltage of up to 15 volts. The gate threshold voltage (VGS(TH)) of this device is typically between +0.2 and -2.0V. Unlike many other MOSFETs, the gate is not connected to the drain, which results in the gate not being affected by the drain-source voltage. This allows for enhanced ruggedness and reliability.

The working principle of AOD472 follows the usual two-phase charge transfer mechanism, which is as follows: when the gate is in forward bias, the positive electrical field from the gate terminal induces majority carriers (the electrons) and minority carriers (the holes). This creates a conductive channel and allows current to flow from source-to-drain. When the gate is in the reverse biasing, the current is inhibited and blocked.

In the application of the AOD472, the gate signal is applied to the control terminal and the voltage is modulated. The slight changes in the signal field create a dynamic control of the device. When the signal is high, the device turns on; when the signal is low, the device turns off. Since this device has low gate threshold voltage, it is easily triggered and can control even very small signals.

The AOD472 is a reliable and cost-effective solution for a variety of applications. Its low on-resistance and low gate threshold voltage make it ideal for low-voltage and low-power applications, and its high linearity makes it suitable for responding to short pulse signals accurately.
