AOD474A is a high-performance monolithic MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor). It is a field-effect transistor of the enhancement type, allowing for the modulation of current between the source and drain connections through the application of an electric field between the drain and gate terminals. As a result, AOD474A is commonly employed as an amplifier, voltage regulator, switching device, or oscillator.
AOD474A is highly suitable for a wide range of audio and power management applications. It has very low input capacitance, low drain source on-state resistance (RDS(on)), high current handling, fast switching time, and low total gate charge. Additionally, AOD474A is built with a temperature compensation design that provides better performance in operating temperatures ranging from -25°C to +125°C.
In terms of its working principle, AOD474A operates on a gate controlled movement of electrons. The flow of current is controlled by a voltage applied to the gate-source junction between the gate and source connections. When a positive potential is applied to the gate terminal, the FET is turned on and the current can start flowing from the source to the drain connections. Conversely, when a negative potential is applied to the gate terminal, the FET is turned off and current flow is blocked from the source to the drain connections.
AOD474A has a source-to-drain breakdown voltage (BVDSS) of up to 400V and is manufactured in an industry-standard TO-220 package.
