An AON6400 is a 2-gate normally off GaN power switch. It is a monolithic integration of two GaN enhancement mode high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with a mid-gate protected by a high-bandgap integrated isolation oxide. It is suitable for power management needs in applications such as adapter, streaming media, laptops, tablets, game console and more. Additionally, the AON6400 also supports in-system power management (ISPM), end user power management (EPM), high voltage drive control and low voltage supply for a wide variety of standard and customizable power design solutions.
GaN (Gallium Nitride) is a wide gap semiconductor material that is highly beneficial for use in high frequency switching applications. It is efficient, lightweight, and has superior thermal and mechanical properties compared to its silicon (Si) predecessors. Thus, GaN based power switches are becoming increasingly popular in the power management field.
The AON6400 is equipped by ON Semiconductor, making power management applications easier, more flexible and reliable. It is the industry’s first 2-gate, normally off GaN power switch and has been developed with the highest safety standards. It consists of two GaN enhancement mode HEMTs with a mid-gate protected by a high-bandgap integrated insulation oxide (IOX) providing superior power efficiency.
