The AON7450 is a single sub-micron n-channel low side field effect transistor (FET) guard ring Down® structure, also known as a GaNFET. It is capable of operating at a range of voltages from 3V to 20V, making it an ideal solution for low to mid-power applications. This FET utilizes an advanced fabrication process to deliver high performance and low EMI, allowing it to satisfy the requirements of high-speed, high-voltage systems.

The physical structure of the AON7450 is laid out in two layers. The first layer, at the bottom of the FET, is a source region. Current flows through this region, when the gate voltage is applied, and the source region produces a low resistance area. Above the source region is the drain region. The external drain connection is located at the top of the FET. Current flows out of the drain region when the gate voltage is applied to the FET.

At the center of the FET is a gate region. This region determines the on and off states of the device. When a voltage is applied to the gate, it is pulled to the source, allowing the current to flow from source to drain. When the voltage is removed from the gate, the current flow stops.

The AON7450 utilizes an innovative yet simple guard ring Down (GRD) structure to achieve superior performance and low EMI. This feature gives the FET an extra physical barrier between the gate and the drain of the device, reducing any charge bouncing and preventing unwanted switching noise. Additionally, the GRD also results in a much smaller sizing, allowing for a more compact layout.
