A UIFS4127 is a high-voltage, high-current insulated gate field effect transistor (IGFET) specifically designed for the pulse width modulation (PWM) switching of electrical applications with high efficiency. It is designed to provide superior switching characteristics and enhanced reliability in high power applications. The UIFS4127 has a Gate Threshold Voltage (VGS) of 8V, a Gate Drive Voltage (VGG) of 8V and a Drain Current (ID) of 45A.
The distinctive feature of the UIFS4127 is its insulated gate field effect transistors, which are used to control current flow in an electronic circuit. IGFETs are three-terminal active devices that all operate on the same principle. They consist of an insulated gate electrode and two heavily doped semiconductor regions, separated by a reverse-biased PN junction. When a voltage is applied to the Gate terminal, an electric field is set up between the Gate and Source terminals, which turns the channel “ON” and allows current to flow between the Source and Drain.
The UIFS4127 offers a wide range of applications. It is ideal for the power supply for single phase lighting and energy saving systems, uninterruptible power supplies, motor driver applications, motor control systems and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) applications. Additionally, the UIFS4127 is also suitable for industrial applications such as a high-speed, electronically controlled switch for medium voltage applications.
The working principle of the UIFS4127 is based on the application of a small DC gate voltage to create a low resistance channel or "conductive channel” between the Source and Drain electrodes. This low resistance channel allows current to flow from Source to Drain at high switching speeds and low losses. The Gate-Source voltage (VGS) controls the current flow in the channel. As VGS is increased, the low resistance channel is formed, allowing the current to flow. As VGS is decreased, the low resistance channel is closed and current is switched off.

It is characterized by low turnaround time, low On-resistance and low drain leakage.
