The IRF9956 is a MOSFET array. It is used mainly in applications such as power supply switching, motor control and other power switching applications. The device is comprised of two N-channel enhancement mode power MOSFETs that are housed in a single package. The IRF9956 is designed for high current handling capability, high speed switching and low on-resistance.
The IRF9956 can be used for both P-channel and N-channel types of MOSFETs. The device is capable of providing an output current of up to 50A. It features an on-resistance of 8mohms and off-resistance of 30ohms. The IRF9956 can operate up to a maximum voltage of 600V. Its maximum switching frequency is 1MHz and its maximum power dissipation is 87W.
The IRF9956 is ideal for applications that require high speed switching, high current handling capability and low resistance. The device has an integrated on-chip protective circuitry with overvoltage protection, current limiting and an over temperature protection. This makes the device quite reliable and safe for operation.
The working principle of the IRF9956 is quite simple. The device functions like a typical MOSFET array. The two N-channel enhancement mode power MOSFETs are connected in series and act as a single MOSFET. The device is triggered by applying a gate voltage which causes the MOSFETs to turn on. This allows current to flow through the device and the output voltage is determined by the voltage difference between the source and drain. As the gate voltage is increased the source to drain voltage drop decreases, thus allowing more current to flow.
In addition to its application as a MOSFET array, the IRF9956 can also be used in other applications such as voltage regulators, motor control, switchmode power supplies, boost switching converters and etc. With its integrated protective circuitry and high current capabilities, the IRF9956 is a great device for many different applications.
