Introduction
The N25Q is a single-die serial NAND Flash memory device and the most advanced solution in the family of Serial NAND Flash memory. Working Principle
The N25Q utilizes a 96-bit wide serial interface. The N25Q can be configured as either a synchronous or asynchronous device. As a synchronous device, it supports double data rate (DDR) mode and can provide a maximum of 66 MHz access frequency. As an asynchronous device, it operates at a maximum of 33 MHz.
The control interface of the N25Q comprises a Command Register (CR), an Address Register (AR) and a Data Register (DR). The CR consists of one register that holds command codes and other status information. The AR holds the address being used by the device and includes three registers that together accommodate 48 bits of memory address. The DR holds the data being transmitted and consists of two 8-bit registers. The N25Q also features an external write protection pin (WP#) that can be used to protect a portion of the N25Q memory array from being written to.
The N25Q also features an on-board Error Correction Code (ECC) engine for data protection. The ECC engine is designed to detect and correct single-bit errors as well as detect double-bit errors. This ensures data accuracy even when the N25Q is subject to harsh environmental conditions or operating temperature extremes.
