The SI4464-B1B-FMR is a monolithic bipolar broadcast FM transmitter integrated circuit specifically optimized for consumer and mission-critical applications. It is one of the most advanced RF transceiver ICs and supports up to 56 Kb/s data rate over short to medium distances. This system-on-a-chip (SoC) device provides excellent power efficiency, wide operating temperature range, and is fully compatible with commercial FM radio receivers. It is ideal for consumer applications such as amateur radio, consumer electronics, and automotive entertainment.

The SI4464-B1B-FMR is designed to work in the FM band (87.5 to 108 MHz). It is a single-conversion receiver and supports advanced digital modulation protocols, including Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). The receiver\'s wideband radio frequency (RF) input allows the user to select a channel by programming the IF frequency. The receiver automatically searches for an optimum frequency hopping cycle and also implements various up/down converter and other management functions.

The SI4464-B1B-FMR works on the principle of Frequency Modulation (FM). In FM, sound signals are converted into an audio frequency (AF) signal, which is then modulated onto a radio frequency (RF) carrier wave. The frequency of the RF carrier wave is changed in accordance with the amplitude and frequency of the modulating signal. The frequency of the FM signal is proportional to the magnitude of the sound signal. The SI4464-B1B-FMR supports both narrowband and wideband FM modulation and can be used for broadcast applications, including FM radio, satellite radio, and HD Radio.

In addition to broadcasting, the SI4464-B1B-FMR is also suitable for consumer applications, such as wireless audio streaming. The receiver supports data rates up to 56 Kb/s which allows for the transmission of a wide variety of audio formats, including MP3, AAC, OGG, and PCM. It also supports the transfer of voice, metadata, and status information. These include adaptive carrier sense, channel selection, and variable gain control.
