The FDW2516NZ is a MOSFET array composed of two N-Channel PowerTrench MOSFETs that are arranged in a dual-in-line package. This device is a highly efficient power switch with a wide variety of applications. It is commonly used in automotive, consumer, industrial and lighting applications.

The FDW2516NZ offers an on-state resistance (RDSon ) of 160mΩ with a continuous drain current rating of 16A and a peak drain current of 75A. In addition, this device has a drain-source breakdown rating of 60V, a fast switching speed and a low gate charge. It is designed to operate in applications requiring high-current switching and low-support circuitry.

The FDW2516NZ has two fully independent N-channel MOSFETs. Each of the MOSFETs consists of a source and a drain terminal in a dual-in-line package. The gate and source terminals of each MOSFET are connected internally, while the gate and source terminals of the opposite MOSFET are connected externally. This arrangement allows the user to select the desired gate voltage to either gate terminal.

The FDW2516NZ is suitable for high-side and low-side switching applications. The device can be used for power SOFT-START circuits, in heavy-load switching applications, and as a low-side switch in automotive, consumer, industrial and lighting applications. The device can also be used in applications with ground referenced loads such as power supplies, inverters and motor control.

The basic operating principle of the FDW2516NZ is that the gate voltage must exceed a certain threshold for the MOSFET to turn on and allow current to flow through the drain and source terminals. When the device is off, no current flows through the drain and source terminals and the gate voltage is at a low level.

When the FDW2516NZ is used in high-side switching applications, the gate voltage must be above the threshold voltage to turn the device on. This ensures that no current flows through the device before the voltage applied to the gate is above the threshold voltage. In contrast, when the FDW2516NZ is used in low-side switching applications, the gate voltage must be below the threshold voltage to turn the device on.

The FDW2516NZ is an excellent choice for high-current, low-support circuitry applications where low-side or high-side switching is required. Its low on-state resistance and fast switching speed enable it to perform efficiently in high-current switching applications with minimal support circuitry.
