Introduction
SPP80N06S2L-06 is an enhancement N-channel 80V, 0.07-ohm, PowerTrench® MOSFET which is produced by Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation. It is designed with its PowerTrench structure and utilization of Charge-balancing technology to achieve ultra-low on-state resistance.
SPP80N06S2L-06 is available in SOT-223 package with its extremely small footprint, making it ideal for applications that require high-current, high-speed switching with low-power dissipation.
APPLICATION FIELD
SPP80N06S2L-06 MOSFET is ideal for portable equipment and notebook PC power management applications such as DC-DC conversion and LED lighting. It is also suitable for applications that require efficient switch mode power supplies and battery chargers.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
MOSFETS are insulated-gate devices, which are controlled voltages instead of controlled current. During their operation, a transistor can be used as a switch, which can control a voltage current flow between a control terminal to a load.
When the source/drain load is connected to the power supply, voltage is applied to the gate of the MOSFET, resulting in a voltage gradient between the source and drain. This voltage gradient creates an electric field, allowing the current to flow through the channel and between the source and the drain. The current flow is then regulated by the varisan gate voltage.
Additionally, SPP80N06S2L-06 MOSFET utilize charge-balancing technology which allow the electrons to balance their charges while they are passing through the ultra-low on-state resistance. This increase the switching speed of the MOSFET.
