The AON6260 is a Vertical Single N-Channel Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (Vertical DN-MOSFET). It is capable of providing higher voltage levels, higher switching speeds, and improved on-state current handling capabilities, when compared to a standard Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET). As such, a single AON6260 can be used to replace several conventional MOSFETs in order to achieve a more efficient circuit design.The AON6260 can be used in a variety of applications including power management, automotive systems, and consumer electronics. In particular, the AON6260 is well suited for use in applications such as switch mode power supplies, where high efficiency, low noise, and high reliability are desired.The working principle of the AON6260 is quite simple. When a suitable gate voltage is applied to the Gate terminal of the transistor, a channel of electrons is created which enables the two terminals Source and Drain to become conductive. The main advantage of the AON6260 over the standard MOSFET is that due to its vertical design, the Gate terminal is further away from the main current path between the Source and Drain, hence enabling the AON6260 to provide higher voltage levels, higher switching speed and improved on-state current handling capabilities.The on-state properties of the AON6260 can be further improved by the inclusion of two outer terminals called the Body and the Body Diode which provide better dynamic resistance control and better temperature stability. The Body terminal is connected to the source and the body diode is connected to the drain.The AON6260 also has the advantage of being designed for surface mount applications.
