AON6598 is a high voltage, normally-off, depletion mode, thick-film Gallium Nitride (GaN)enhanced transistor, which enables high performance, high power density systems in a very small outline package. It is ideally suited for applications such as high frequency DC-DC converters, wired, and wireless communications, as well as other power management, reliability and control applications. As a normal-off transistor, it has the ability to turn off in the absence of a gate-source voltage, which reduces power losses significantly.
The AON6598 features an ideal combination of high current rating and high-voltage performance with a 3-V gate drive voltage and 1-A drain current rating. With an IT(RDS(ON)) of 10 mOhms at 250-V drain voltage and operating temperature up to 150 °C, it can provide high performance current switching in high-density applications.
The AON6598 is a high performance, high efficiency normally-off transistor for switching at high frequencies such as DC-DC converters. The normally-off GaN-enhanced thick-film technology enables very low on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) across a broad range of temperatures (- 40° to +150°) at high drain voltages. It also has a high blocking breakdown voltage (BVDS) of 500 V, allowing it to be used in power circuitry switching voltages of up to 500 V.
AON6598 is supported by the gate-source voltage. When this voltage is applied, a small drain current is demonstrated and the device is considered to be ON. When the gate-source voltage is removed, the AON6598 will remain ON due to its depletion-mode component. The gate-source voltage must be actively monitored in order to ensure that the device is OFF when desired.
The AON6598 features a low gate charge and a low-threshold voltage as compared to many other power MOSFETs. This gives it greater performance when switching at higher frequencies, resulting in better efficiency, lower power dissipation and improved system reliability. It is also capable of withstanding high temperatures up to 150°C.
