IXTA60N10T Application Field and Working Principle

The IXTA60N10T (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT)) is a high power switch that is used for controlling currents of up to 10 A and has a voltage range of up to 600V. This high resistance allows only a small current to flow between the source and drain, thus limiting the current through the device. When the voltage difference between the source and gate is reversed, the depletion region narrows and the resistance reduces thus allowing a larger current to flow. As this current flows, the gate voltage increases linearly with the current.
