MRF581 is a high-power silicon NPN epitaxial planar transistor of the double-diffused mesa junction type. It is designed for use in RF and microwave amplifiers requiring up to 25 watts of output power in the frequency range of 200 MHz to 500 MHz.
Application Field
The MRF581 is suitable for use as a power amplifier in wireless communications systems, amateur and citizen band radios, TV and FM receivers, and other applications requiring wide band high-power operational amplifiers and frequency multipliers.
It is suited for use in a wide variety of applications, from low-power, low-power buffers to high-power and high-frequency amplifiers. It is ideal for use in radio equipment, such as mobile radios, radio pagers, cordless phones, CCTV, and toys. It is also suitable for use as wideband power amplifiers and frequency multipliers, as well as for other high-power, high-frequency amplifier and high linearity amplifier designs.
Working Principle
The MRF581 is a Class A Amplifier which operates in Class C mode when biased off, and switches to Class A mode when given sufficient bias. When operated in the Class C mode, the transistor draws minimal current, allowing it to be used in low-power and low-current applications.
In Class A mode, the transistor has a high-gain current amplifier, which produces an extra high linear output power. The MRF581 has no secondary current gain as it has a large active area, which makes it suitable for a wide variety of applications.
