The ZVN4206GTA is an enhancement-mode n-channel insulated gate field effect transistor (IGFET) with internal protection structures, intended for use in low voltage, low current switching applications. It operates from 2.5V to 20V and is certified to meet ESD (electrostatic discharge) performance requirements up to 2 kV. The ZVN4206GTA is a high-speed, low-voltage transistor with excellent on-resistance and low gate charge, allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications.
The ZVN4206GTA is commonly used in automotive applications such as body control module, instrument cluster, remote keyless entry and multi-media systems. It can also be used as a logic-level switch in audio amplifiers, mobile and portable devices, motor control circuits and high speed gate drivers.
The ZVN4206GTA incorporates an on-chip gate protection diode, making it resistant to overvoltage and electrostatic discharge events. The ZVN4206GTA works on the principle of field effect transistors. Field-effect transistors operate using three terminals; a gate, the source and the drain. The gate is insulated from the current carrying part of the transistor by a dielectric material such as silicon dioxide and thus behaves like a capacitor. The gate is used to control the flow of current between the source and the drain by altering the channel width of the transistor. The channel width is determined by the voltage applied to the gate, which then determines the amount of current that can flow between the source and drain.
When a positive voltage is applied to the gate of the ZVN4206GTA an enhanced inversion channel forms between the source and drain which improves the current conduction. This enhanced channel is created by the depletion of the metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) channel. These enhanced conduction paths allow the ZVN4206GTA to conduct current in them and switch on when the voltage across the gate threshold is met. When the voltage on the gate is lowered below the threshold, the inverse channel dissipates and the device switches off.
