CSD87381PEVM-603 is an evaluation module (EVM) designed for customers to understand and evaluate the performance of the CSD87381 family of offline, integrated, high-voltage, fixed-frequency (HVF) synchronous rectified synchronous rectified (SRF) low-loss power factor correction (PFC) controllers. With this EVM, users can measure performance characteristics of the CSD87381 PFC controller, such as input/output voltage/current, efficiency, power factor, etc.
The CSD87381PEVM-603 is intended to be used as a reference platform for evaluating the electrical characteristics, operational performance, and key features of the CSD87381 family of controllers in different power applications.
The CSD87381 family of controllers provide an integrated solution for offline DC/DC and AC/DC SMPS designs. The integrated solution includes a wide-input voltage range, a fixed frequency, patented Peak Replication Power Factor Correction (PR-PFC) architecture, a predictable current limit, an optional Low-Voltage Protection (LVP) mode, an optional active external Half-Bridge (HB) current sensing feature, an onboard digital compensation, a PFC boost diode, and a customizable output voltage.
The CSD87381 is a ripple current-mode controller with a peak current weak inrush current limit, critical conduction mode (CCM), seamless transition mode (TFM) capability, and an optional adaptive on time (AOT) feature to improve efficiency. Inherent ripple current-mode provides immunity to line noise and EMI, making it suitable for power supplies exposed to harsh environments. The integrated patented PR-PFC architecture reduces the bill of material (BOM) components, while improving dynamic response, power factor, and system efficiency.
The CSD87381PEVM-603 module features a comprehensive set of onboard components and circuitry that allows users to easily evaluate the CSD87381 PFC controller for a wide range of operating conditions. It features a wide input voltage range (from 85 to 264 Vrms) that covers the whole universal input range, and has two output voltage ranges - a standard range (0 to 220 Vdc) and an extended voltage range (0 to 260 Vdc). The positioning of both ranges of output voltage is user adjustable via S1 and S3.
The CSD87381 controller has a range of diagnostics feature that allows users to monitoring system performance, such as peak current (Vceo), ripple current (Vfz) and input frequency (Tfc). It also provides onboard digital soft-start, phase-locked loop (PLL) synchronized operation, and an optional phase-shift circuit for reduced conduction losses.
In addition to the EVM, the CSD87381 family offers a comprehensive development environment including hardware targets and development software tools such as the CSD87381PEVM-603 development system (CSD87381PEVM-603/DISCE/TS), Design Studio Pro, WaveDriver, or PowerNavigator. Development software tools provide a suite of convenient tools to help designers explore, debug, and design quickly and accurately.
