EPC2022 is a field effect transistor (FET) designed for linear amplifier applications such as audio, VHF/UHF and FM receivers, television and radio antennas, and mobile communication systems. It is also used for pulse-width modulated (PWM) applications, such as switching power supplies and motor control applications.

EPC2022 is a single five-terminal device composed of an N-channel enhancement-mode MOSFET with two gate terminals, two source terminals and a drain terminal. The gate-source voltage applied to the two gate terminals will determine how much current the device can handle. This means that the EPC2022 can be used to effectively control the current throughput it is connected to via the two gate terminals.

When used in linear amplifier applications, the EPC2022 works by using an external electrical signal applied at the gate terminals to modulate the current flow that passes through the drain terminal and into the source terminal. The amount of current that is modulated determines the voltage or power level of the output signal. When the external voltage applied to the gate terminals is increased above a prescribed level, the current flow through the drain and source terminals will decrease and the output power will correspondingly decrease.

In PWM applications, the EPC2022 can be used to modulate the current through it at very high speeds and can be used for the precise control of power switch circuits and motor control devices. The modulation of the current through the EPC2022 is achieved by controlling the voltage at the gate terminals, which controls the current flow through the drain and source terminals.
