The FCPF11N65_G is a high-performance N-channel MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) designed for switching applications. The gate of the FCFP11N65_G is controlled through the voltage applied across it, with the pinch-off voltage being much lower than that of other MOSFETs in its class. This, combined with its fast switching times, makes the FCFP11N65_G an excellent choice for power conversion circuits, motor driver circuits, motor controls, and high-speed switching circuits.
The most basic element of an N-channel MOSFET is the source, body and drain, connected to the Source, Body and Drain terminals respectively. A thin layer of metal oxide, made up of two types of crystals – n-type and p-type silicon – is used as the gate insulator. A positive voltage applied to the gate causes electrons to be drawn up from the drain to the body, creating an electric field, which in turn changes the conductance of the MOSFET, between the source and the drain.
This process is commonly referred to as ‘saturation’. By increasing the voltage applied to the gate, the drain-to-source current increases. By reducing the gate voltage, the opposite happens and the current decreases, allowing complete control of the current flow. In comparison to other MOSFETs, the FCFP11N65_G has a low pinch-off voltage, which makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, including wireless communication, automotive electronics, UPS and audio amplifier circuits.
The FCFP11N65_G also features low input capacitance and fast switching times, making it suitable for high-frequency switching. The device also has a very low on-resistance, which means less power is wasted in the form of heat – allowing for greater efficiency of the circuit as well as a lower component count.
