FCPF7N60 is a family of VDMOS (Vertically Diffused Metaloxide Silicon) high voltage fast switching transistors that is widely used in various electronic circuits. It is developed by Fairchild Semiconductor, which provides enhanced silicon reliability and better performance in a very low cost. Using the latest process technology, the FCPF7N60 transistors can deliver very low ON resistance, ultra-low Gate charge and high-speed power switching.

The main application field of FCPF7N60 is in the switch mode power supply (SMPS), which requires faster switching speed and lower power loss during the electrical power conversion. This kind of power transistor is often used in the secondary stage of the switched power supplies, such as LCD TVs, CRT TVs, DVD players, car radios, etc. It is also suitable for pulse control circuit, motor control switching, switching signal control, and many other general purpose home appliance control purposes.

The working principle of FCPF7N60 is as follows: When a power signal is applied to the Gate terminal, the transistor\'s gate capacitance is charged and the device enters ON state. The Gate capacitance being charged acts as a voltage source, which boosts the Gate voltage, driving the MOSFET output voltage to its ON threshold value. This increases drain current, thus turning the device ON. The Gate capacitance then controls the device\'s ON/OFF status.

Essentially, the FCPF7N60 is a high voltage Drain-to-Gate capacitance device. It can be used as a switch or an amplifier. If used as a switch, the device acts like an open/closed switch for controlling power, or an analog switch used for signal selection. On the other hand, when operated as an amplifier, the device can be used to amplify analog or digital signals.

Due to the high voltage breakdown capability, excellent temperature stability and low power dissipation capability, FCPF7N60 can be used in the high voltage circuits. In addition, FCPF7N60 is also beneficial due to its high speed and very high switching frequency. This makes it an ideal choice for applications requiring rapid transitions in analog and digital signal processing, such as modems and microwave ovens.

FCPF7N60 transistors have a very low on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) and high drain current capability which makes it a perfect choice for power management applications. It can handle a maximum of 600 volts and can be used in power applications up to a maximum of 50 W. This voltage and current capability makes it ideal for many kinds of high power switch mode power supply (SMPS) and point of load (POL) applications.
