Application Field
The function of power MOSFETs is to control the flow of current in high-efficiency, high-reliability power systems. The IRFS7430TRL7PP provides a wide voltage range and low switching losses to enable a wide range of applications. These applications include: DC-DC converters, mobile power, SuperIO regulators, notebook and netbook power regulation, and low-voltage functional power management. The IRFS7430TRL7PP can also be used for synchronous rectification, DC converters, over-voltage protection, and synchronous buck rectifiers. The IRFS7430TRL7PP applications also includes switching regulators, hot swap controllers, over-voltage protection, DC-AC inverters, power factor correction, and high-current power supplies.
Working Principle
The IRFS7430TRL7PP power MOSFET utilizes vertically-stacked insulated-gate structures built into a single silicon die to achieve ultra-high performance. By operating two transistors in parallel and in reverse-polarity, the MOSFET generates peak switching speed while very efficiently transferring charge pulses. This dual-direction switching capability also enables improved current-sharing characteristics. The N-channel MOSFET is used to regulate a voltage by switching current flow from the drain to the source terminal. When the gate voltage is higher than the source voltage, the MOSFET will become an “on-state”, allowing current flow from the drain to the source. Reverse current will not flow through the MOSFET during this “on” state, making it ideal for power regulation and efficiency applications.
The IRFS7430TRL7PP is built with Flash-IPA UltraFET III technology, which significantly improves performance by minimizing the gate charge, reducing the on-resistance, and improving switching speed. The low-on resistance and low gate charge makes the IRFS7430TRL7PP optimized for any application that requires low power losses, fast switching speeds, and high-current carrying capability. The high-side insulating layer used on the drains also provides high-voltage protection, allowing up to 100V operation of the MOSFET for more demanding applications.
