The IRL2505L is a n-channel enhancement mode power MOSFET from International Rectifier Corporation. It has been designed primarily for use as a PWM (pulse width modulated) switch in a wide range of low-voltage switch-mode applications. The IRL2505L is a versatile and economical solution for a wide range of high-frequency switching applications, providing high performance and power efficiency.

In its most simple form, a MOSFET is a voltage-controlled switch, or a three-terminal transistor with gate, drain and source terminals. Its gate requires no current, which means it can be driven by a voltage as low as 0.05V and as high as 10V. Its drain and source conduct current when the gate voltage is applied, thus able to switch from off-state to an on-state, and vice-versa. The IRL2505L is a logical choice for switching high-frequency applications with typical drain-source on-resistance of 0.045 Ohms for single drain-source operation.

The IRL2505L can be used to build a wide range of power switching circuits. Its low on-resistance enables it to perform efficiently with higher frequency switching, making it suitable for applications where switching speed and power efficiency matter. For example, in switch mode power supplies, the IRL2505L is the perfect switch, providing fast switching and low power dissipation. It can also be used in high frequency motor control circuits, DC-DC converters, switching regulators and other high-power switching applications.

The IRL2505L is manufactured using the company\'s proprietary silicone-based technology. It features a self-aligning drain, reducing solder bridging and eliminating the need for a solder mask.
