A 2SK33720SL transistor is a type of field-effect transistor (FET) with a depletion-mode operation specifically designed for a number of unique applications. As a derivative of a junction FET (JFET), a 2SK33720SL FET is comprised of three main components; the source, the gate, and the drain. By supplying a steady voltage to the gate, a depletion layer is created, ensuring that one of the semiconductor’s main properties known as its pinch off voltage, can be maintained.
In its simplest form, a 2SK33720SL FET works by using a voltage to create an electric field across a narrow strip of lightly doped, semi-insulated material known as the channel. By doing so, the electric field effectively reverse biases the region, which inhibits current from crossing.
