AOT416 is a type of power semiconductor component that belongs to the family of field effect transistors (FETs) and metal oxide semiconductor FETs (MOSFETs). It is particularly a type of single FET and is ideal for use under high power operating environments due to its high drain-source current handling capability. AOT416 is often used in low-side switching applications in order to switch and control the flow of electricity into or out of circuits or components.

The AOT416 is a single, N-channel lateral power transistor. In terms of functionality, it is designed to be an enhancement-type, high voltage device and has an associated maximum drain-source voltage rating of 400 volts. The internal structure of the AOT416 is divided into two sections: a channel region and a drift region. The channel region is the part of the device responsible for controlling current flow. The drift region consists of a thin layer of n-type material that produces a low-resistance path for electrons traveling between a device’s drain and source. The underlying junctions between the channel region and drift region allow the electrons to bypass normal electron flow paths, enabling FETs to provide superior current conduction and noise immunity, as well as better reliability and durability.

The AOT416 is an excellent choice for high power applications that require fast switching capabilities, high voltage operation and reliable, stable performance. It is also a cost effective solution with a maximum power dissipation capacity of 12 watts.
