AOT440 (Advanced Power MOSFET) is a high-performance power MOSFET produced by Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS). It has advanced set of features suitable for multiple applications in DC-DC converters, audio amplifiers, displays, automotive systems and various industrial applications. This advanced power MOSFET provides excellent thermal performance, superior switching speed and higher current density for better system efficiency.

AOT440 consists of both a vertical Diffused Enhancement-mode MOSFET (n-MOSFET) and a traditional Planar Enhancement-mode MOSFET (p-MOSFET). AOT440 has superior on-state characteristics, better thermal performance and high power density compared to traditional MOSFETs because of its dual structure.Due to its low operating and switching threshold voltage, AOT440 is suitable for low voltage applications. This MOSFET is also compatible with the standard SOA (safe operating area) program.

The basic principle of operation of the AOT440 is similar to that of a conventional MOSFET. The Drain and Source terminals of the MOSFET are connected to the power supply. The voltage is applied to the Gate of the MOSFET to control the flow of current between the Drain and Source terminals. When the voltage applied to the Gate is below the MOSFET\'s threshold voltage, the MOSFET is off and no current will flow between the Drain and Source. When the voltage applied to the Gate is greater than the MOSFET\'s threshold voltage, the MOSFET is on, and current can flow between the Drain and Source.
