IRLR3714PBF is a single N-channel Enhancement Mode MOSFET with Ultra Low On-Resistance and Fast Switching Times. R3714PBF is specifically designed to reduce conduction losses and switching losses. With its low on-resistance and low capacitances, it offers several advantages over conventional gate-driven devices, such as improved thermal performance, faster operating speeds, and reduced power consumption.
The IRLR3714PBF is a shielded Power MOSFET which has all of the features of the conventional unshielded type, like Ultra-Low On-Resistance, Low Input Capacitance, Low Input Gate Threshold Voltage, and Ample Safe Operating Area. The benefit of this Power MOSFET is that it’s shielded. This shielding not only helps to reduce EMI/RFI by providing a physical barrier to conductive noise but also helps reduce cross-talk between adjacent power devices.
The IRLR3714PBF is perfect for a wide variety of applications where a low on-resistance MOSFET is required including power supplies (DC-DC converters, and switching regulators), power control, motor control and drives, digital logic, and analog signal processing. It can also be used to replace PNP-type devices in space saving and efficiency applications.

The working principle of the IRLR3714PBF is based on the electrostatic attraction of the gate-source and drain-source junctions in the MOSFET. The gate terminal is the control element of the device and when the gate is properly charged a depletion region is formed between the gate-source and drain-source junctions that cause a depletion of carriers in these regions. This reduces the total capacitance between the gate and source on the MOSFET and thus a conducting channel of charge carriers can be formed in the device allowing current to flow between the source and drain.
When a forward biasing voltage is applied to the gate terminal, the number of carriers in the channel increases and this allows the conducting channel to become wider, thus increasing the drain current drastically. When no forward gate voltage is applied, the channel is restricted and the drain current is reduced except for the leakage current.
In summary, IRLR3714PBF is an excellent power/high-speed MOSFET that should be considered for a wide range of applications.
