AO4452 is a N-channel metal oxide semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) designed primarily for low voltage and low power applications.
AO4452, like other MOSFETs, operates by modulating the flow of electrons within a channel of an n-type material, which is sandwiched between two metal electrodes, the source and the drain. Unlike BJT, whose current is mostly controlled by the base-emitter junction, MOSFETs are more directly controlled by an applied electric field, and the current flow is mainly dependent on the voltage of the gate-source junction. By manipulating the gate-source voltage, the current between source and drain can be either partially or completely blocked, depending on the voltage magnitude.
AO4452 has a maximum drain-source voltage rating of 12V and a maximum drain current of 110mA. It also features an on-resistance that is as low as 5.5Ω and a max power dissipation of 250mW.
