The BUK7Y21-40EX is a single pole double throw (SPDT) insulated transistor specifically designed to be used in failsafe automotive applications. The BUK7Y21-40EX has a double pole double throw (DPDT) diode built in to provide the necessary insulation protection in environments where the ignition and other voltage sources can create a potential hazard. The BUK7Y21-40EX is also capable of operating over a wide range of temperatures and can handle peak inrush current conduction for up to one hour.
The BUK7Y21-40EX is a two-terminal JFET based linear device which combines the features of economical, high performance and high reliability. This FET is exceptionally well suited for powering off driver circuits and gate drivers, as well as load switching. Its thickness increases the Rds ON over traditional planar FETs. This feature eliminates the possibility of current conducting paths, as it offers both a uniform current as well as better temperature stability. The device is also highly efficient, with a typical on-state power dissipation of 43.5 mW per device at 250 mA.
The BUK7Y21-40EX is suitable for use in applications where the load requires protection against overcurrent and overheating. With an on-state current of 250mA, it can be used for automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics. The on-state current of 250mA, together with the additional insulation provided by the DPDT diode, make it an excellent choice for applications that require both overload and temperature protection.
